Many references were used as a starting point in the preparation of this style guide, including the “AP Stylebook,” “The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage,” “The Elements of Style” and “The Little, Brown Handbook.” While many of the entries in this guide are similar to those found in these standard references, they have been adapted for Philippine use.
This 2024 edition of “The Manila Times Stylebook” also draws from Jose Luna Castro’s “Style Book of the Manila Times” (1960) and subsequent adaptations by Arnold Moss and Rene Q. Bas.
